Since 1988, Dr. Michael Marks has been providing patients with personalized, comprehensive chiropractic care. He specializes in providing natural, drug-free healing for people who have experienced auto accidents, sports injuries and work-related injuries, as well as ongoing headaches, neck pain, low back pain and sciatica.
"Chronic pain can take all the enjoyment out of life," Dr. Marks said. "It's very rewarding to be able to help suffering people get back to feeling like themselves."
Before establishing Somerset Chiropractic Center in 1990, Dr. Marks earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Ga. He studied physiotherapy at Brenau College in Kennesaw, Ga., and medicine at St. George's University in the West Indies. Dr. Marks earned his master's degree in exercise physiology from Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. and his bachelor of science degree in education and sports medicine from Cortland State University in Cortland, N.Y.
Dr. Marks belongs to several professional organizations, including the Florida Chiropractic Association, Florida Chiropractic Association Council on Sports Injuries, Accident and Industrial Injury Associates, Inc., Academy of Industrial Health Consultants, American Academy of Spine Physicians, Life Chiropractic College Alumni Association and Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. He is affiliated with several South Florida hospitals, including West Boca Hospital, Boca Raton Community Hospital, Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital and Delray Hospital.
As a service to the community, Dr. Marks provides seminars on back safety and injury prevention, health and wellness, proper posture, home and workplace ergonomics, and stress reduction.
While Dr. Marks believes that good chiropractic care is essential to maintaining health, he does not hesitate to refer patients to other specialists when he believes their condition warrants further treatment. By employing this philosophy, Dr. Marks has developed excellent relationships with other South Florida physicians for the ultimate benefit of his patients.
Under Dr. Marks' direction, Somerset Chiropractic Center has also instituted several patient care programs such as "CWoman Care,"D which provides women with natural alternatives to help ease the discomfort of pregnancy, menopause, premenstrual syndrome and other common conditions. The practice offers state-of-the-art equipment and expert hands-on techniques to provide spinal manipulation, massage therapy, spinal care, spinal education, physical therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound and heat therapy.
